Job summary

Praktis is building an end-to-end data science team to optimize supply chain operations. This role focuses on collecting and preprocessing data from ERP, logistics, and external sources, applying ML and statistical techniques to forecast demand and improve inventory and procurement decisions.

You will develop predictive models, design insightful dashboards, and collaborate with IT to deploy scalable data infrastructure while mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications

• 2+ years as a Data Scientist or similar, preferably in supply chain or logistics.
• Proficient in Python or R with data manipulation libraries.
• Strong statistics, data mining, ML: regression, clustering, time series, trees, neural nets.
• Experience with data viz tools and SQL for data extraction.
• Familiarity with SCM concepts: demand planning, inventory/logistics optimization.
• Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and big data tech (Hadoop/Spark) a plus.
• Certifications in data science or supply chain are desirable.

• Work with IT to deploy scalable data infrastructure and ensure data quality.
• Stay updated on data science, SCM trends to drive innovation.
• Mentor junior team members on methodologies and tooling.

What You Will Do:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business challenges and opportunities for leveraging data analytics within the supply chain.
• Collect, clean, and preprocess large volumes of structured and unstructured data from diverse sources such as ERP systems, logistics databases, sensor data, and external APIs.
• Apply advanced statistical analysis, data mining techniques, and machine learning algorithms to extract actionable insights and patterns from complex datasets.
• Develop predictive models to optimize demand forecasting, inventory management, procurement strategies, and transportation/logistics planning.
• Design and implement data visualization dashboards and reports to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
• Collaborate with IT teams to deploy scalable data infrastructure, implement data governance policies, and ensure data quality and integrity.
• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in data science, supply chain management, and technology trends to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members on data science methodologies, best practices, and tooling.

What You Will Need:

• Proven experience (2 years) as a Data Scientist or similar role, preferably in the supply chain or logistics industry.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy).
• Solid understanding of statistical analysis, data mining, and machine learning techniques, including regression, clustering, time series forecasting, decision trees, and neural networks.
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Metabase, Tableau, Power BI) and proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
• Familiarity with supply chain management concepts, such as demand planning, inventory optimization, logistics optimization, and network design.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into analytical solutions.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
• Relevant certifications in data science or supply chain management are desirable.
