MatchaTalent is seeking a Data Cruncher & Inventory Demand Forecaster to build predictive inventory models and forecasting frameworks across diverse operations. The role requires collaborating with operations, procurement, warehousing, logistics, and management to forecast material requirements and strengthen supply chain performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, industrial engineering or related quantitative field.
  • Minimum 5 years in demand planning, inventory planning, or supply chain analytics.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics) and analytics tools.
  • Strong Excel skills with data modeling and large dataset handling.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, validate, organize, and analyze large operational datasets from multiple units, warehouses, and sites.
  • Develop and maintain demand forecasting models for inventory categories.
  • Monitor inventory performance, lead times, stock movements, and warehouse utilization.
  • Compute safety stock, reorder points, EOQ, and optimization parameters.
  • Design dashboards/reports to visualize inventory health and supply chain risks.
  • Identify inefficiencies and opportunities for working capital optimization.

Job Role

The Data Cruncher & Inventory Demand Forecaster is responsible for developing predictive inventory models, demand forecasting frameworks, and operational analytics that support the group's diverse business operations. The role focuses on transforming large volumes of operational, inventory, and supply chain data into actionable insights that improve inventory availability, reduce excess stock, optimize working capital utilization, and support business planning across multiple subsidiaries.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with operations, procurement, warehouse, logistics, engineering, and management teams to identify trends, forecast material requirements, and strengthen supply chain performance. This position is ideal for analytical professionals who possess strong quantitative capabilities and enjoy applying data science, forecasting methodologies, and operational analytics to solve complex business challenges within asset-intensive industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, validate, organize, and analyze large operational datasets from multiple business units, warehouses, and project sites.
  • Develop and maintain demand forecasting models for critical inventory categories, including spare parts, consumables, operational materials, fuel allocations, and other strategic inventory items.
  • Monitor inventory performance, consumption trends, supplier lead times, stock movements, and warehouse utilization metrics to improve planning accuracy.
  • Calculate safety stock levels, reorder points, Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), and inventory optimization parameters to support business continuity and cost efficiency.
  • Design dashboards, analytical reports, and performance tracking tools that provide visibility into inventory health, operational efficiency, and supply chain risks.
  • Identify inventory inefficiencies, excess stock, obsolete materials, duplicate purchases, and working capital optimization opportunities through data analysis.
  • Support procurement teams with forecasting insights, purchasing recommendations, and inventory planning strategies.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, logistics, operations, engineering, and supply chain stakeholders to align inventory requirements with operational activities and project schedules.
  • Support Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes and ensure alignment between forecasted demand and procurement activities.
  • Review and improve data quality, reporting accuracy, and information integrity within ERP systems and operational databases.
  • Present analytical findings, inventory forecasts, and operational recommendations to management teams and executive stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or above in Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Business Analytics, or other quantitative disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Demand Planning, Inventory Planning, Supply Chain Analytics, Operations Analytics, Data Analysis, or related analytical functions.
  • Proven experience within mining contractors, heavy equipment industries, automotive supply chains, industrial distribution, manufacturing, agriculture, logistics, or other asset-intensive sectors.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles, forecasting methodologies, Material Requirements Planning (MRP), supply chain optimization, and operational analytics.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data modeling, scenario analysis, and large dataset management.
  • Experience utilizing ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar enterprise platforms.
  • Practical experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, R, or other business intelligence and analytical tools is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving capability, attention to detail, and ability to translate data into actionable business recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills with the ability to interact effectively with both operational and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Highly adaptable, resilient, and capable of operating effectively within fast-paced, multi-industry business environments.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to operational sites, warehouses, and project locations as required.
  • Professional fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required for reporting, analysis, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
