Job summary

Expat. Roasters is seeking a Production Manager to oversee the coffee roasting process from preparation to cooling, ensuring top quality and consistency. You will develop roasting profiles, monitor roast levels, and implement cupping-based quality controls.

The role includes team training, production forecasting, and collaboration with Roastery Management to schedule work and maintain safety and cleanliness on site in Bali.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire coffee roasting process, from preparation to cooling, to ensure the highest quality
• Develop and maintain roasting profiles to achieve optimal flavor and consistency
• Monitor roast levels and make necessary adjustments to ensure consistent quality
• Develop and implement quality control processes, including cupping and sensory evaluation, to ensure consistency and quality of roasted coffee
• Facilitate and lead regular cuppings with the production team
• Utilize Cropster software for roasting management
• Operate coffee roasters, including setting up machines (calibration, cleaning, etc.) to start a production cycle, and control and adjust machine settings
• Roast and fulfill coffee orders and supervise the coffee roasting process
• Train new roasters or assistant roasters and develop their skills
• Collaborate with the Assistant Roastery Manager to forecast production and ensure inventory levels are adequate to meet customer demand
• Collaborate with the Roastery Management team to create the team’s working schedule
• Assist the team with tasks when needed, including but not limited to QC, packaging, unloading supplies, and liquid production
• Fill and report records of approved and defective units or final products
• Work with the Roastery Management team to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, follow sanitation standards and schedules, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• Follow safety procedures and report hazards and incidents to the Assistant Roastery Manager
• Perform preventative maintenance daily, weekly, and monthly, and as specified by the operations standards
