PT Samindo Resources Tbk, a holding company with a new maritime subsidiary, is seeking a Chartering Controller based in South Jakarta. The role reports to the management team and supports commercial activities by evaluating chartering opportunities, assessing voyage profitability, and managing negotiations on freight contracts.
You will analyze voyage economics, review charter party forms, negotiate terms, prepare forecasts, and maintain freight market intelligence.
About the role
We are a Holding Company with a new subsidiary within the Maritime Business. Reporting directly to the management team, The Chartering Control will support the Company's commercial activities by evaluating chartering opportunities, assessing voyage profitability, and managing commercial negotiations related to freight contracts. This full-time position is based in South Jakarta, Jakarta.
What you'll be doing
Analyse voyage economics and chartering opportunities to maximize profitability.
Evaluate freight rates, operating costs, and market conditions.
Assist in negotiating charter party terms and freight agreements.
Review charter contracts and identify potential commercial risks.
Coordinate with Operations and Vessel Management teams regarding vessel availability and deployment.
Prepare voyage estimates, budget forecasts, and performance reports.
Maintain market intelligence on freight trends and competitor activities.
Support contract administration and compliance with commercial obligations.
What we're looking for
Proficiency in English (both written and spoken) is a must.
Bachelor's Degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Business, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in chartering, shipping operations, or maritime commercial functions. (Tanker chartering experience is highly preferred.)
Strong understanding of Voyage Charter and Time Charter structures.
Familiarity with charter party forms and shipping documentation.
Excellent analytical and commercial evaluation skills.
Strong negotiation and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
In-depth knowledge of maritime laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to commercial shipping and chartering activities..
