Job summary

PT JASA DAGANG INDONESIA in Jakarta seeks a Chartering Assistant to help secure vessels and negotiate terms for our cargoes. You will fix vessels on spot, time-charter, or COA basis and protect margins against market swings and voyage risks.

Responsibilities include drafting contracts, monitoring voyage performance, and coordinating with owners, brokers, and port agents. Fresh graduates are welcome, and strong numeracy and English skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Shipping, Logistics, or a related field.

• Strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent English communication skills; Mandarin proficiency is an advantage.
• Willingness to work outside regular office hours when required to handle fixtures across different time zones.

• Handle the laytime, demurrage, and despatch claims until settlement.
• Identify suitable vessels or tug-and-barge fleets based on customer requirements.
• Monitor the freight market and vessel availability.
• Coordinate with shipowners, brokers, port agents, and related parties.
• Maintain chartering records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with company policies.
• Prepare meeting minutes and summaries, and follow up on action items.

About the Job:
Assist the Chartering Manager in securing the right vessel at the right freight cost for the company's cargoes. The role fixes vessels on a spot, time-charter, or COA basis, negotiates charter party terms, and protects the company's margin against freight market and voyage risk.
