Job summary

IFB International Freightbridge in Medan, Indonesia is seeking a Business Development Executive to grow the customer base and expand freight forwarding services.

You will build relationships, identify opportunities, and collaborate with operations to ensure top-tier service while driving profitability. A bachelor’s degree and 2–3 years in freight forwarding with English proficiency are required, with self-drive and leadership skills valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree required; 2–3 years in Freight-Forwarding with at least 2 years in sales.
• Proficiency in English; other languages a plus.
• Strong negotiation, presentation and communication skills.
• Knowledge of Incoterms, international shipping documents, and freight forwarding processes.
• Own vehicle with valid SIM A/C preferred.
• Existing customer network in North Sumatra is an advantage.

These Tasks Await You

• Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers while acquiring new business to achieve sales targets.
• Identify new business opportunities through market research, networking, referrals and direct customer visits.
• Develop trade lanes and business opportunities by leveraging the IFB global network.
• Work closely with Operations, Customer Service and Overseas Offices to ensure excellent service delivery.
• Ensure all new business meets company profitability and GP targets.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities and provide sales intelligence.
• Build business across key industries including Palm Oil, Coffee, Rubber, Manufacturing and General Cargo.
• Review sales performance regularly with Branch and Country Management.

What You Bring

• Bachelor Degree.
• 2-3 years’ experience in Freight-Forwarding, at least 2 years in sales.
• Proficiency in English Language, other language is a plus.
• Proactive mentality, flexible, eager, organized and leadership skills.
• Functional knowledge in air / sea / logistics.
• Independent, self-driven, communication and result orientated.
• Market Intelligence and product knowledge within International Freight Forwarding.
• Knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.).
• Strong negotiation, presentation and communication skills.
• Existing customer network in North Sumatra is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Incoterms, international shipping documents and freight forwarding processes.
• Possess own vehicle and valid driving license (SIM A/C) is preferred.
• Experience handling multinational customers and working with overseas agents is an advantage.
