Job summary

Mercure Jakarta Gatot Subroto is seeking a Banquet Supervisor to lead the banquet service team and ensure events—from meetings to weddings—are delivered to the hotel's high standards. You will coordinate with Kitchen, Event, Sales, F&B, and other departments, supervise setup, service, and guest satisfaction, and train staff to maintain quality during busy functions.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of banquet or F&B operations experience in a hotel or resort.
• Previous supervisory experience is an advantage.
• Strong leadership and team supervision skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good command of English; additional languages are an advantage.
• Able to work under pressure and manage multiple events or tasks.
• Professional appearance and strong guest-service orientation.
• Flexible to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily operations of the Banquet Department.
• Ensure banquet functions are set up and operated per BEO and hotel standards.
• Review event requirements, function sheets, menus, and guest counts.
• Conduct pre-event briefings and communicate responsibilities to staff.
• Supervise setup of tables, chairs, linens, and buffet stations.
• Ensure function rooms are clean, organized, and prepared ahead of guest arrival.
• Coordinate with Kitchen for timing, presentation, and dietary requirements.
• Coordinate with Event, Sales, F&B, Stewarding, Engineering and other departments.
• Monitor food and beverages service for timeliness and professionalism.
• Supervise banquet servers and ensure proper service techniques.
• Monitor guest satisfaction and respond to requests or complaints promptly.
• Communicate and execute special requests, VIP arrangements, and instructions.
• Monitor buffet presentation, replenishment, and cleanup.
• Ensure equipment, glassware, chinaware, and linens are properly cared for.
• Return, store, and account for all equipment after events.
• Monitor wastage and manage portions and supplies efficiently.
• Assist with inventory checks and report shortages or damages.
• Comply with policies, HACCP, hygiene, safety, and fire procedures.
• Train and coach staff to improve service and efficiency.
• Monitor attendance, grooming, punctuality, and performance.
• Assist in staff assignments per event schedules and business levels.
• Conduct post-event checks and restore function rooms.
• Prepare operational reports and escalate issues to Banquet Manager.
• Support other F&B operations when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Banquet Manager or Management.
