Roll Sg Pte Ltd in Batam, Indonesia seeks an experienced Marine/ Naval Engineer to develop, verify and support ballast, stability, and load-out activities for barges and heavy transport operations.
You will review data, prepare ballast plans, perform stability analyses, and coordinate with naval architects, surveyors, and client teams to ensure safe, compliant operations and timely execution.
To develop, verify, and support the execution of ballast, stability, and marine load-out engineering for barges, pontoons, floating structures, and heavy cargo transport operations. The position ensures that every stage of a marine operation is technically feasible, stable, structurally acceptable, and aligned with approved project procedures and operational limits.
Key responsibilities
Gather and review barge/vessel data, including general arrangement drawings, hydrostatic data, stability booklets, tank plans, tank capacities, deck-strength limitations, structural drawings, certificates, and operating restrictions.
Review cargo/module data, including weight, center of gravity, dimensions, support points, load distribution, transportation frames, grillage, sea fastening, and lifting/transfer arrangements.
Prepare ballast and de-ballast plans for load‑out, load‑in, float‑off, float‑over, skidding, SPMT transfer, lifting, towing, berth operations, and other relevant marine activities.
Perform stability calculations for all relevant operational stages, including displacement, drafts, trim, heel/list, GM, free‑surface effect, wind heeling, damaged stability where required, and operational stability margins.
Evaluate deck loading, load distribution, longitudinal strength, transverse strength, support reactions, local structural capacity, and other applicable barge/vessel limitations.
Establish critical operational limits, including target tank levels, ballast sequence, pump capacity requirements, flow rates, timing, allowable drafts, allowable trim/list, environmental criteria, hold points, and contingency actions.
Prepare or contribute to engineering calculations, technical memoranda, method statements, drawings, operation procedures, risk assessment inputs, lifting/load‑out plans, and engineering review packages.
Review engineering documents, calculations, and procedures submitted by subcontractors, vendors, clients, or other project disciplines.
Provide field engineering support during mobilization, trials, load‑out/load‑in, towing preparation, and other critical operations; compare actual readings with planned values and recommend technical actions when deviations occur.
