Job summary

Indonesia Defence Services is seeking a Project Engineer – Maritime to lead and coordinate maritime engineering projects, including shipbuilding, repair, and retrofit. You will manage technical execution, supervise shipyard activities, and ensure regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering/ Naval Architecture or Mechatronics and has at least 2 years of project engineering experience, strong leadership, and fluent English for client communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering/ Naval Architecture or Mechatronics.
• Minimum 2 years of project engineer experience in shipbuilding, repair, or maintenance.
• Strong understanding of ship structures, propulsion systems, machinery, and safety systems.
• Willingness to travel to project sites including shipyards and vessels.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage technical execution of shipbuilding, repair, conversion, and retrofit projects.
• Supervise dry-docking operations; coordinate with shipyards, contractors, and classification societies.
• Conduct inspections, analyze vessel conditions, and recommend engineering solutions.
• Review and prepare technical documentation, including repair specs, drawings, and progress reports.
• Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
• Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL) and class rules.
• Serve as main technical contact for clients, vendors, and internal teams.
• Support procurement and evaluation of materials and equipment.
• Mentor junior engineers and support process improvements.

This role demands strong project management skills and a deep understanding of marine systems and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the technical execution of new shipbuidling, repair, conversion, and retrofit projects.
• Supervise dry-docking operations and coordinate with shipyards, contractors, and classification societies.
• Conduct inspections, analyze vessel conditions, and recommend engineering solutions.
