Job summary

Grab is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join our Fulfilment Platform Engineering Team in South Jakarta, Indonesia. You will design and build scalable Go services, improve reliability, and mentor junior engineers as part of a high‑performance distributed system.

You will work on cloud-native architectures, participate in design reviews, and help automate operations to scale our marketplace. This role requires 3+ years of distributed systems experience and a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related fields.
• 3+ years of experience in software engineering in a distributed systems environment.
• Experience with Golang, including its core syntax, standard library, concurrency primitives, and developing Go applications.
• Proficiency in maintaining operational excellence and site reliability, including performance and capacity planning.
• Strong CS fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with large-scale web services and understanding systems internals and networking.
• Ability to work with multiple languages and be willing to work on Golang.

Responsibilities

• Design and write with the Go language to improve availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of a range of services.
• Collaborate with engineering to explore designs and architectures geared toward scale and performance.
• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain high development standards.
• Contribute to service capacity and demand planning, performance analysis, tuning, and optimization.
• Define and prototype feature specifications with product and experience teams.
• Work with infrastructure to build and scale back-end services and perform root cause analysis.
• Develop, analyze, and fix large-scale systems.
• Debug and solve production incidents during on-call shifts.
• Participate in interview loops to help Grab hire top talent.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.
