Job summary

Flex is seeking a Backend Equipment Engineer based in Batam to maintain, troubleshoot, and improve production equipment to ensure optimal performance and quality in electronics manufacturing.

You will develop maintenance plans, support equipment commissioning, and drive cost reductions through maintenance optimization while collaborating with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams. The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience in equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
• At least 3 years' experience in equipment maintenance, production engineering, or manufacturing operations.
• Solid knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with production equipment, test instruments, fixtures, and electronics manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance methodologies and troubleshooting techniques.
• Basic understanding of statistical analysis and continuous improvement tools.
• Good computer and IT skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve production equipment and instruments to ensure optimal performance and cost-effective operations.
• Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment, machine, and instrument failures promptly.
• Develop and maintain machine maintenance plans and schedules.
• Support new product introduction (NPI), industrialization, and production transfer projects.
• Analyze equipment, quality, or production issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure equipment performance meets quality and production requirements.
• Verify equipment capability and process readiness prior to customer acceptance when applicable.
• Improve equipment efficiency, productivity, reliability and safety.
• Drive cost reduction through maintenance optimization.
• Define and improve technical requirements, workmanship standards, and maintenance practices.
• Manage maintenance suppliers and external service providers as required.
• Control and optimize spare parts inventory and maintain accurate equipment and maintenance documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and training to technicians/operators.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to support manufacturing operations.

The Backend Equipment Engineer will be based in Batam.

Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and continuously improving production equipment and instruments to ensure optimal performance, maximum equipment utilization, stable product quality, and cost-effective manufacturing operations.

• Perform preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime. The equipment includes glue dispensing machines, baking ovens, tape-and-reel packaging machines, pin insertion machines, routers, and laser marking machines.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment, machine, and instrument failures in a timely manner.
• Develop and maintain machine maintenance plans and schedules.
• Conduct machine setup and support equipment commissioning activities.
• Support new product introduction (NPI), industrialization, and production transfer projects.
• Analyze equipment, quality, or production issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure equipment performance consistently meets quality and production requirements.
• Verify equipment capability and process readiness prior to customer acceptance when applicable.
