Job summary

The University of Hong Kong invites applications for Assistant IT Manager (Computer Officer II) in the Information Technology Services Unit. The appointee will help lead the Web Application Team, supervise daily operations, and deliver enhancements to the Admission e-flow System, websites, AI chatbot, and related portal services.

The role requires solid experience in web development, front-end frameworks (React, Vue, Angular), back-end APIs, SDLC/Agile, Git, and CI/CD, plus knowledge of AI

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS/Software Engineering; master’s preferred.
• 7+ years post-qualification experience with at least 5 years in web development or managing admission systems.
• Experience with admission systems in higher education; strong stakeholder liaison skills.
• Proficient in front-end frameworks (React, Vue, Angular) and back-end APIs/databases; SDLC/Agile; Git and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of AI, data privacy, cybersecurity; vendor coordination and governance.

Responsibilities

• Assist IT Manager in leading the Web Application Team and overseeing daily operations.
• Oversee development, maintenance, enhancements, and integration of web applications and websites.
• Lead admission system upgrades, testing, deployment, and ensure service quality and security.
• Collaborate on AI-enabled web solutions and AI chatbot initiatives with academic/administrative teams.
• Resolve issues, manage incidents, and coordinate with vendors for improvements.
• Manage projects from requirements to delivery, including budgeting and resource planning.
• Advise on IT governance, cybersecurity, and data protection; ensure compliance.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff; promote knowledge sharing and succession planning.
