Job summary

Conners Consulting Limited, on behalf of a listed Bank group in Hong Kong, seeks an experienced Data Centre leader to oversee IT infrastructure, batch processing, and security protocols in a 24/7 environment.

You will direct shift operations across DBA, UNIX Middleware, AS400, and Storage, manage DR readiness, ITIL processes, and incident response, while mentoring a high-performing team and delivering executive reports.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in system management and data centre operations.
• 3–5 years in a senior leadership/management role.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT or related field.
• Deep knowledge of mainframe systems and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Direct the daily activities of shift operators to ensure flawless batch jobs and 24/7 system health.
• Lead DBA, UNIX Middleware, AS400, and Storage teams; oversee mainframe administration and inventory.
• Oversee Incident, Problem, and Change Management per ITIL; minimize business disruption.
• Manage hardware maintenance contracts and coordinate with remote hands for on-site support.
• Conduct regular inventory audits and DR drill planning.
• Generate high-level operational reports for senior management.
• Mentor, train, and develop your team to sustain technical excellence.

Our client, a listed Bank group is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to take charge of the Data Centre operations. In this high-impact role, you will oversee the entire IT infrastructure, ensuring the seamless execution of batch jobs, robust system performance, and strict adherence to security protocols.

Key responsibilities

Direct the daily activities of shift operators to ensure the flawless execution and monitoring of batch jobs and system health on a 24/7 basis

Lead a team of staff members across DBA, UNIX Middleware, AS400, and Storage functions, oversee mainframe administration and precise inventory management, ensuring all rack diagrams and assets are meticulously documented

Lead the Incident, Problem, and Change Management frameworks (ITIL), ensuring swift resolution of issues and minimizing business disruption

Manage hardware maintenance contracts, coordinate with remote hands for on-site support, and conduct regular inventory audits

Take ownership of the annual Disaster Recovery (DR) drill to ensure organizational preparedness against potential disruptions

Generate high-level operational reports for senior management and ensure all activities comply with relevant policies and regulations

Mentor, train, and support your team, cultivating a collaborative environment focused on technical excellence

About you

Minimum 10 years in System Management, Data Centre operations, with 3-5 years in a senior leadership/management role

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field

Deep knowledge of mainframe systems (z/OS, CICS, Omegamon, VTAM, MQ), IBM Workload Scheduler, Connect:Direct, and version control (Endevor, Git)

Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow) and monitoring software (NetGains, PRTG)

Solid experience across DBA, UNIX Middleware, AS400, and Storage functions

Proven leadership abilities, exceptional communication, and strong analytical problem-solving skills

ITIL, PMP, or mainframe-specific certifications are highly desirable
