Job summary

TransUnion Limited in Hong Kong seeks an experienced Database Administrator to maintain and optimize large-scale SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL and Informix systems. The role combines Windows and Linux administration, performance tuning and capacity planning in a hybrid, on-site/off-site environment.

You will manage incident response, patches, batch environments, and drive close collaboration with security teams and developers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of DBA experience with sizing, design, tuning and capacity planning
• Linux/Unix system administration experience
• Solid knowledge of Informix, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL
• Experience with Windows and Linux administration in virtualized environments
• Familiarity with load balancers, firewalls and network/storage basics
• Proficiency in English and Cantonese, written and spoken

Responsibilities

• System and database maintenance across SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL and Informix
• Perform Windows and Linux system and database infrastructure tasks
• Monitor and respond to security incidents
• Manage ticketing via Remedy
• Ensure health of database and application systems
• Provide insights to application support teams

Role Overview And Core Responsibilities

• System and Security maintenance of RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL & Informix)
• Perform Windows and Linux systems and database Infrastructure
• Monitor and responding on Security and Incident management
• Manage Ticketing system on Remedy
• Maintain the database and application systems in a healthy status
• Provide professional insights to the application support team for all level of development/maintenance work
• Perform Installation, configuration, patching, database sizing, design, tuning and capacity planning
• Evaluation/Deployment of new application system and IT technology
• Execute and maintain the drill test of BCP annually
• Ensure adequate documentation for all application and database systems
• Supports and maintains other vendor database software installed on the Windows/Linux servers
• Maintains UNIX/Linux Operating System to provide optimum performance and system availability
• Supports application development team to ensure application software is installed correctly and all current maintenance levels have been applied
• Creates and maintains environment for running batch jobs associated with daily batch cycle and batch reporting subsystem
• Works with network and infrastructure personnel to ensure compatibility with network applications and peripheral hardware to provide end users with reliable and stable working environment
• System level support for mission critical application and database servers, docker, Java application servers or other large-scale databases in a UNIX/Linux environment.
• Supports and maintains other vendor database software installed on the UNIX/Linux servers
• Perform regular system patching to ensure the compliance of info security
• Provide production or on call support if necessary

Required Knowledge And Experiences

• Degree Holder in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of DBA with hands-on experience in system & database sizing, design, tuning, DB reorganization, capacity planning and problem analysis
• Minimum 5 years of Linux/Unix System Admin role
• Solid knowledge in Database Administration (e.g. Informix, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
• Working experience in Unix/Linux and Windows system administration preferably in virtualized environment
• Experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining services such as Redhat, Jboss, Tomcat, Apache, Oracle, DB2 & Informix, etc.
• Familiarity with Linux scripting languages
• Work independently with standalone problem solving capability
• Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware
• Knowledge of servers, network, SAN storage, RDBMS, & Cloud (e.g. AWS) etc.
• Certificate in Oracle, SQL, Linux, AWS, etc. would be an advantage
• Proficiency in spoken and written in English and Cantonese
• Available to provide 24/7 support on a roster basis
• Knowledge of Change Management process and procedure
• Leadership competence to drive result
• Strong grasp on configuration management tools
• Familiarity with load balancing, firewalls, etc.
• Proficient with system management tools such as iptables, HAProxy, NGINX, SPLUNK, etc.
• Ability to build and monitor services on production servers
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Able to work independent and understand the business priorities
• Knowledge of Software Development Methodologies including the SDLC and Agile frameworks & other statistical tools
