Spinnaker IT Limited is seeking a Senior Manager Unix, Middleware and Database Administration to lead a skilled team handling UNIX/Linux, middleware systems and databases. The role focuses on performance, reliability, and cross-team collaboration to support enterprise infrastructure.

Our client is a local bank looking for a talented candidate to take up a senior IT manager role to lead a team of UNIX/Linux, middleware system and database administrators. This team is responsbile for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of UNIX, Linux, middleware and database systems within the bank. The success of the team will highly require excellent collaboration with other IT teams.
Key responsibilities
Lead teams of UNIX/Linux system and database administrators with performance, reliability, availability and stability taken into accounts across all supported platforms and infrastructure
Manage enterprise databases such as Oracle RAC, DB2, MSSQL, including provisioning, configuration, performance tuning, and ongoing maintenance
Administer UNIX/Linux servers, including AIX, Solaris, and Red Hat, overseeing server provisioning, configuration, and performance optimization and ensure backup and recovery strategies and disaster recovery procedures are in place to support data integrity and business continuity within SLAs.
Prepare annual capacity planning reports, including system utilization trends and growth projections
Conduct Security Acceptance Testing (SAT) and user account reviews on a semi-annual basis
Lead incident resolution efforts, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive and corrective actions
Coordinate infrastructure changes related to network deployments or upgrades and liaise with vendors for procurement, installation, and support
Generate and deliver system performance reports and maintain detailed documentation for audit and compliance purposes
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
6-8+ years of experience as a UNIX/Linux Administrator and/or Database Administrator or in a similar focused role
Hands-on experience in AIX, Solaris, Redhat linux administration, and database administration, including Oracle RAC, DB2, MSSQL
Proven experience in managing UNIX backup and recovery strategies, including disaster recovery planning and execution
Familiarity with End-of-Support (EOS) system upgrades and lifecycle management
Strong understanding of audit and compliance requirements, including documentation, SAT, and user access reviews
Proficient in generating system performance and capacity planning reports
Experience coordinating infrastructure changes and working with vendors for database-related hardware and software
Strong leadership, excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to address complex issues
