About the Job

You will lead a team of frontend and backend engineers, ensuring high-quality delivery, adherence to best practices, and effective collaboration across disciplines. You will own architecture decisions, conduct code reviews, debug production issues, and maintain reliable deployments, while working closely with Product, Design, and Business teams to translate requirements into scalable, well-engineered solutions.

We rely heavily on AI tools for coding and code review: 80-90% of our code is written with AI, with engineers directing, reviewing, and refining the output. This role leads that adoption across the team, setting the standards for AI-assisted development and keeping quality, architecture, and review practices strong as the volume and pace of code grows.

The team lead will be responsible for:

• AI-Assisted Development: Define how the team uses AI coding and review tools day to day. Set the standards for shipping AI-generated code safely and keep quality standards high for what gets merged.
• Architecture & Patterns: Own the architecture of the team's services. Define and apply proven patterns (microservice boundaries, event-driven design, domain-driven design, clean API contracts) and keep systems modular, coherent, and maintainable as AI increases the volume and pace of code.
• Coding (70%): Write, review, and optimize production-ready code in TypeScript, Node.js, and React, working with AI tools from design through review and testing, ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Code Review & Quality: Enforce best practices and high code quality standards, with review practices adapted to AI-generated code: automated checks handle routine issues, human review focuses on correctness, architecture, and business logic. Guide engineers through constructive feedback.
• Mentorship: Coach and support engineers through regular feedback, pair programming, and technical guidance, including effective use of AI tools.
• Issue Resolution: Debug and resolve production issues, coordinate incident response, and ensure root-cause analysis and prevention.
• Planning & Delivery: Plan and prioritize development work, balance workloads, and manage release deliverables.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Design, and Business teams to align on requirements, timelines, and technical feasibility.
• CI/CD & DevOps: Maintain reliable build and deployment pipelines, monitor system health, and enforce security and automation standards.
• Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks, propose tooling or workflow improvements, and drive overall engineering efficiency.

Skills (we are looking for someone with):

• Expert in TypeScript, Node.js, React, and Next.js, with strong experience building full-stack web applications and reusable components.
• Strong grasp of software architecture and design patterns (microservices, event-driven systems, domain-driven design, API design), with experience designing high-load distributed systems that stay scalable and maintainable.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding tools in production work (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot): generating, reviewing, and correcting AI-written code, and helping others do the same. Familiarity with RAG, MCP, and evals is a plus.
• Skilled in designing and maintaining microservices and GraphQL APIs for scalable, distributed architectures.
• Proficient with SQL databases and modern NoSQL solutions such as MongoDB and Redis, including schema design, query optimization, and caching strategies.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including container orchestration, automated deployments, and system monitoring, plus working knowledge of AWS and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Proficient with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing, building, and deployment.
• Strong understanding of web security standards, authentication flows, data protection, and secure coding practices.
