Job summary

Jardine Engineering Corporation (JEC) in Hong Kong seeks a Category Manager for Building Products and Branded Equipment. You will develop category strategies, lead strategic sourcing, and manage supplier relations across Asia, ensuring competitive pricing and contract compliance.

The role requires strong stakeholder management, analytical skills, and proficiency in English and Chinese. Depending on experience, you may join as Manager or Assistant Manager with responsibilities spanning

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline.
CIPS or CPSM qualification or equivalent would be an advantage.
8–10 years of relevant experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, commercial, supply chain, or supplier management.
Experience in engineering, construction, E&M, facilities management, building products, subcontracting, or project procurement would be highly relevant.
Solid understanding of category management, RFx / tendering, supplier selection, contract management, supplier performance management, procurement governance, and compliance.
Strong analytical and commercial capability; ability to interpret spend data, supplier data, cost breakdowns, market information, and procurement KPIs to develop practical sourcing recommendations.
Strong stakeholder management, communication, influencing, and negotiation skills; able to work with business units, project teams, technical users, and external suppliers.
Good command of English and Chinese; proficiency in MS Office; ERP or Procurement system experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement category strategies for assigned materials and services categories (e.g., cable, pipe & fittings, valves, builder’s work, electrical, fire service, access control, water/fuel tank, flow meter, BMU, air compressor).
Analyse procurement spend, supplier base, purchase history, demand patterns, and market benchmarks to identify cost improvement opportunities.
Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing activities including requirement clarification, sourcing strategy, RFx, tender evaluation, negotiation, and benefits tracking.
Collaborate with business units to understand current and future sourcing needs and ensure practical, commercially sound category strategies.
Improve early procurement involvement in project planning, pre-tender activities, budgeting, supplier selection, and major spend decisions.
Manage supplier relationships including segmentation, performance reviews, issue resolution, and risk mitigation.
Own contract management for assigned categories ensuring terms, SLAs, risk allocation and renewals are properly managed.
Identify and connect with capable suppliers, including Mainland China sourcing opportunities and new product/service providers.
