Job summary

Hupo is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to own the platform core for a growing SaaS product portfolio in banking and insurance. You will lead shared services, extract capabilities from products, and set standards for security, testing, and release while guiding ~17 engineers across Asia. Hands-on coding weekly; not a pure management or architecture role.

Location includes Singapore, Europe and the US with a remote-friendly setup and cross-time-zone collaboration across India and Southeast Asia.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building production backend systems and leading migrations across multiple teams.
• Deep TypeScript and Node.js production experience; comfortable with Python.
• Design and operate multi-tenant SaaS controls to prevent data leakage.
• Experience decomposing monoliths and extracting shared services while in production.
• Infrastructure judgment: Kubernetes, GCP or AWS, CI/CD and observability.
• Strong security and data-handling instincts in regulated environments.
• Clear written communication across time zones; defend against unsafe shortcuts.

Responsibilities

• Build shared platform pieces: configuration, identity and permissions, tenant isolation, model access, and evaluation.
• Migrate existing products without blocking delivery and drive adoption across multiple teams.
• Make architecture and migration decisions across repositories from design to production.
• Set standards for ownership, review, testing, security and release.
• Provide safe ways to vary behavior per client without forks.
• Collaborate with infrastructure engineers on deployment, CI/CD, and observability.
• Ensure every important system has a second owner.
