Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance seeks a seasoned Property Underwriter in Hong Kong. The role involves managing the Property line portfolio, ensuring growth and retention, while establishing effective underwriting procedures. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve financial targets and provide technical training to team members.

The ideal candidate possesses at least 12 years of insurance experience, including 6 years in Property underwriting, along with strong analytical and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years in insurance industry with at least 6 years in solid Property underwriting.
• Sound technical underwriting and extensive product knowledge.
• Reinsurance knowledge will be an asset.

Job description

• Focusing on production underwriting of Property line and managing the portfolio to ensure growth and retention;
• Establishing &/or maintaining procedures and workflows to optimize property underwriting efficiency and to ensure the best-in-class property underwriting controls and service levels in place;
• Collaborating opportunities with other business teams to achieve APAC financial targets;
• Managing and fostering key producer relationships to achieve business objectives;
• Providing technical training, guidance and mentoring to other less experienced team members;
• Coordinating with other teams / departments for daily operations;
• Providing strategic input into underwriting direction product development & marketing plans with respect to Property capabilities;
• Working closely with claims department, risk engineering, and all other key internal stakeholders to promote Liberty’s “integrated business unit approach” and ensure seamless delivery of underwriting services;
• Observing latest insurance information through close connections with insurance associations and other insurance / reinsurance companies.

Job Requirements

• Degree holder + relevant Insurance Professional Designation / Qualifications;
• Minimum 12 years in insurance industry with at least 6 years in solid Property underwriting;
• Sound technical underwriting and extensive product knowledge;
• Reinsurance knowledge will be an asset;
• Proven ability to manage and grow a successful portfolio;
• Strong numerical sense, analytical skills, and business acumen;
• Good team work, presentation, communication and negotiation and skills.
