Qualifications

• Master or PhD in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of R&D experience developing electrochemical biosensors.
• Hands-on expertise with enzymatic and/or aptamer-based electrochemical sensors for biofluids such as sweat, saliva, interstitial fluid, or blood.

Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, and optimize electrochemical biosensors for sweat analytes.
• Develop and refine biorecognition interfaces, including enzyme immobilization and surface functionalization.
• Characterize sensor performance using amperometry, cyclic voltammetry, square wave voltammetry, EIS, and potentiometry.
• Address real-world challenges of sweat sensing and develop calibration strategies.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to integrate sensors onto flexible or screen-printed platforms.
• Plan and support on-body studies and validation with clinical partners and regulatory considerations.
• Translate lab-scale fabrication into scalable processes with QC and shelf-life testing.
• Mentor junior engineers, review experimental designs, and contribute to sensor roadmap.
• Document work rigorously, present findings, and contribute to patents/publications.

Job description

• Involve in the design, fabrication, and optimization of electrochemical biosensors for target analytes in sweat (e.g., lactate, glucose, cortisol, electrolytes, or other biomarkers).


• Develop and refine biorecognition interfaces, including enzyme immobilization strategies, aptamer selection and surface functionalization, and protective or permselective membranes.


• Characterize sensor performance using amperometry, cyclic voltammetry, square wave voltammetry, EIS, and potentiometry, with a focus on sensitivity, limit of detection, selectivity, response time, and drift.


• Address the real-world challenges of sweat sensing, including low sample volumes, variable sweat rate, pH and temperature effects, biofouling, and long-term operational stability, and develop calibration and compensation strategies accordingly.


• Work with the hardware teams to integrate sensors onto flexible or screen-printed electrode platforms and wearable form factors.


• Plan and support on-body studies and validation against reference methods (e.g., blood or lab assays), in collaboration with clinical partners and in line with ethics and regulatory requirements.


• Translate lab-scale fabrication into reproducible, scalable processes, and define specifications, QC methods, and shelf-life testing.


• Mentor junior engineers and scientists, review experimental designs, and help set technical direction for the sensor roadmap.


• Document work rigorously, present findings to internal stakeholders, and contribute to patents and, where appropriate, publications.



Required Qualifications





• Master or PhD in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.


• 3+ years of R&D experience (including doctoral and postdoctoral research) developing electrochemical biosensors.


• Hands-on expertise with enzymatic and/or aptamer-based electrochemical sensors, ideally for biofluids such as sweat, saliva, interstitial fluid, or blood.


• Strong understanding of surface chemistry and bioconjugation (e.g., SAMs, crosslinking, redox mediators, electrode modification).


• Proficiency with potentiostats and electrochemical characterization techniques, and a disciplined approach to experimental design and data analysis (Python, MATLAB, or R).


• A track record of taking sensors beyond proof of concept, with attention to reproducibility, stability, and real-sample performance.


• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across hardware, software, and clinical disciplines.
