Job summary

Point Fit Technology Limited is seeking a Product Design Engineer to own the mechanical and physical design of a wearable sweat sensing device, from concept to manufacturing. You will collaborate with sensor, electronics, microfluidics, and firmware teams to deliver a durable, comfortable, and scalable product for real-world activity.

You will prototype rapidly, run reliability tests, and ensure designs meet biocompatibility and manufacturing standards while optimizing cost and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years designing physical products from concept to production, ideally in consumer electronics, wearables, or medical devices.
• Strong proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, or Onshape) including surface modeling for ergonomic forms.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping methods and workshop tools.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, overmolding, die cutting, and lamination, with tolerance analysis.
• Practical, test-driven approach balancing aesthetics, function, and cost.
• Clear communication in a cross-functional R&D team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of the wearable device, including enclosures and sensor patches.
• Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed 2D drawings with tolerances in CAD.
• Design for comfort, skin adhesion, sweat resistance, and durability during exercise.
• Select skin-contact materials with attention to biocompatibility.
• Integrate PCBs, batteries, and flexible electronics into compact assemblies.
• Prototype rapidly using 3D printing, CNC, casting, and laser cutting.
• Plan and run mechanical and reliability testing and analyze failures.
• Apply DFM/ DFA with suppliers and contract manufacturers on tooling and pilot production.
• Support user studies and wear trials to evaluate fit and usability across body types.
• Maintain design docs, BOMs, and change records; contribute to design controls.
