Job summary

ARC Group in Hong Kong/Shanghai seeks an experienced Senior Trader to lead the firm's proprietary trading across long and short equities in the US, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, and Malaysia. You will own principal risk, develop the trading platform, and, with performance and licensing conditions, expand to manage third-party and fund capital.

The role requires a strong P&L track record, liquidity discipline, and regulatory knowledge, with fluent English and a proactive, autonomous approach.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience taking principal risk on hedge funds, prop trading, or bank desks.
• Experience with liquidity-constrained names and sizing against days-to-liquidate and borrow availability.
• Execution experience across at least two of US, HK, Japan, Korea and Malaysia with knowledge of settlement and FX funding.
• Knowledge of US resale, hedging and disclosure rules including Rule 144, Regulation M, Rule 105, Sections 13(d) and 16.
• Strong independent judgement and risk discipline; able to decline trades.
• Fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Run the proprietary book across long and short equities in US, HK, Japan, Korea and Malaysia; selective coverage of Europe.
• Manage financing, borrow cost, recall risk, margin and collateral.
• Manage position sizing, concentration, liquidity and drawdown risk; set exposure limits and report to Investment Committee.
• Hedge and monetise equity-linked and restricted holdings arising from principal transactions.
• Support securities lending and equity financing activity.
• Contribute to desk build-out: broker, prime, custody and financing relationships, trading infra, risk reporting and controls.
• Work with Compliance on restricted-list, disclosure and resale constraints across jurisdictions.
• Hire and mentor as the desk scales.
