Job summary

OKX is hiring a Data Engineer to build and operate the firm’s core data platform, serving market data and trading data across the business. You will manage ingestion from exchange APIs, streaming and batch pipelines, and back-end storage with Iceberg, ClickHouse, and SQL databases.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with quants and analytics teams, applying AI-assisted approaches, and contributing to scalable, reliable data infrastructure in Hong Kong.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3–8 years in software or data engineering (calibrated to experience).
• Strong production skills in Java and/or Python.
• Solid SQL and hands-on experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, or similar.
• Experience building and operating data pipelines (batch/streaming).
• Experience integrating with external APIs (REST/WebSocket).
• Ownership mindset: data quality, monitoring, incident response, and documentation.
• Proactive in using AI tools to accelerate data work, with curiosity for AI/ML applications.
• Open to learning Rust and new storage technologies.
• Strong communication across business and technical teams.
• Fluency in Chinese and English.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate data pipelines end-to-end—from ingestion to storage.
• Develop platform services, tooling, and jobs in Java and Python with a focus on reliability.
• Operate and scale storage backends (Iceberg, ClickHouse, MySQL/PostgreSQL) including schema design.
• Maintain platform health via monitoring, alerts, data quality checks, and backfills.
• Support data consumers with query help, onboarding, and library maintenance.
• Drive platform evolution with migrations, performance tuning, and CI/CD on Kubernetes.
