Job summary

Keyrus in Hong Kong is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our team and support a major banking database migration programme, focusing on migrating PostgreSQL workloads to AWS. This is a hands-on role for someone who can drive production‑critical database or cloud migration projects within banking.

The ideal candidate has 4–7+ years in data or database engineering, strong PostgreSQL/SQL skills, and proven experience migrating databases to AWS using RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL and AWS DMS.

Qualifications

• 4–7+ years in Data Engineering, Database Engineering or a similar role.
• Strong hands-on PostgreSQL and SQL expertise.
• Proven experience migrating PostgreSQL or enterprise databases to AWS.
• Strong experience with RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
• Experience with production-critical database migration programmes.
• Strong understanding of data validation, reconciliation, performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Banking / financial services experience strongly preferred.
• Experience delivering similar cloud or database migration programmes within a bank is a strong advantage.
• Python, Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support PostgreSQL → AWS database migration activities
• Assess databases, schemas, dependencies and workloads
• Design and execute migration strategies using AWS RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL and AWS DMS
• Manage data migration, validation, reconciliation and performance optimisation
• Support testing, cutover, production deployment and stabilisation
• Work closely with application, cloud, infrastructure, security and architecture teams
• Ensure data integrity, security and minimal disruption to critical banking systems
