Job summary

Recruit Logic Limited is seeking an experienced DBA with strong PostgreSQL and MySQL expertise to support our application development team in Hong Kong. You will ensure database integrity, availability, security and performance across complex environments.

The role requires extensive hands-on experience in database installation, upgrades, migration, patching, backup and recovery, as well as scripting and automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related.
• Around 10 years of relevant experience including database admin and programming.
• Candidates with less experience could be considered as Sr Analyst.
• Strong knowledge of Database Installation, Upgrades and Migration.
• Strong knowledge of applying PostgreSQL / MySQL patches and fixes.
• Experience in database architecture, logical and physical design, automation, documentation, installs, shell scripting, PL/SQL programming, catalog navigation, query tuning, system tuning, resource contention analysis, backup and recovery, standby, replication.
• Strong understanding of command line and database server administration.
• Capacity planning for storage, compute, memory, etc.
• Ability to work non-standard shift including nights and/or weekend on-call responsibilities.
• Understanding of networking and connectivity as it relates to a database environment.
• Good team player with ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills in English; Chinese is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure integrity, availability, security and performance of PostgreSQL and MySQL databases.
• Monitor uptime, performance, and recommend improvements for operational efficiency.
• Assist in capacity planning and data maintenance activities.
• Perform database enhancements, recovery and backup tasks.
• Develop and maintain patches for database environments.
• Lead efforts to develop automated monitoring and proactive interventions.
• Manage development, staging and production database instances and migrations.
• Proactively remediate database operational problems.
• Manage logins and user accounts and permissions.
• Participate in on-call rotations and weekend support.
