Job summary

CLSA in Hong Kong is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to own PostgreSQL/MySQL environments, ensure integrity, availability and security, and support application development teams. You will monitor uptime, perform backups, and implement patches while collaborating with IT stakeholders and vendors.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of hands-on database administration, strong Linux and scripting skills (Bash/Perl), and comfort with production on-call rotations to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field.
• 5-7 years’ experience in database administration, preferably in regulated industry.
• 3 years’ hands-on experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL.
• Strong knowledge of installation, upgrades and migration.
• Experience with patches, fixes and performance tuning.
• Proficient in Linux, shell scripting and command-line DB administration.
• Ability to work in a 24x7 on-call rotation and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Offer DBA PostgreSQL / MySQL support for development teams.
• Ensure integrity, availability, security and performance of DB systems.
• Monitor uptime, performance and recommend improvements.
• Assist in capacity planning, space management and data maintenance.
• Perform backups, recovery tasks and patching.
• Develop and maintain automation for monitoring and intervention.
• Lead creation of development, staging and production instances; support migrations.
• Manage logins, permissions and user accounts; participate in on-call rotation.
