Job summary

RecruitFirst Limited seeks an experienced Commercial Manager / Contracts Manager to lead commercial and contractual management of major construction projects in Hong Kong. You will oversee contract administration, cost control, claims management, and commercial strategy to ensure project delivery and financial performance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• Professional qualifications such as MHKIS, MRICS, PRS, or ACIArb are highly preferred.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 8 years in a senior commercial role with a main contractor on large-scale construction projects.
• Strong experience in contract administration, claims management, cost control, and commercial management.
• Sound knowledge of construction contracts, procurement practices, and dispute resolution procedures.
• Strong commercial acumen with excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop and motivate teams.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all commercial and contractual matters throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage and mentor the commercial team, ensuring the effective delivery of tender reviews, subcontract procurement, and contract administration.
• Develop and implement commercial strategies that support project success and profitability.
• Monitor project cash flow, valuations, and payment applications to maintain strong financial performance.
• Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and settlement of variations, claims, and final accounts.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities, and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Provide commercial, contractual, and financial advice to project teams and senior management.
• Support dispute resolution and claims management when required.
