CW Talent Solutions partners with a premier hedge fund in Hong Kong to build an on-site application support function. The role is hands-on and high-impact, owning end-to-end support for front-office trading systems and operations platforms.

You will shape the operating model, SLAs, and incident response while mentoring a growing team. Based in central Hong Kong, you will collaborate with traders, operations, and engineering to diagnose issues, automate routines, and reduce toil and risk.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

A premier multi-strategy hedge fund is building an application support function from the ground up in Hong Kong. As one of the founding members of this team, you will have the rare opportunity to shape the operating model, standards, and culture of a critical business-facing function—not inherit someone else's.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role. You'll own application support across front-office trading systems, operations platforms, and both internally developed and third-party solutions. You'll partner directly with traders, operations teams, and engineering to diagnose issues, improve incident response, and drive automation that reduces toil and risk. Your technical acumen and judgment will be fundamental to how the firm operates.

You'll work alongside a co-founder and a small, elite engineering organization where technical depth is respected and problem-solving is valued. This is an opportunity to establish best practices, escalation discipline, and SLAs that will underpin the function for years to come—and to prove your leadership through execution.

What You’ll Build

• Own end-to-end support for front-office and operations applications—investigating incidents, diagnosing root causes, and driving resolution with speed and precision
• Establish and enforce the operating model for the support function: logging standards, incident triage protocols, SLAs, escalation paths, and continuous improvement cycles
• Develop deep technical understanding of the trade lifecycle, products, risk flows, and booking mechanics—and articulate these clearly to traders, operations, and developers
• Investigate complex issues: PnL discrepancies, risk anomalies, STP failures, and system performance degradation. You'll use SQL, system logs, and code review to get to the truth
• Build monitoring, alerting, and observability infrastructure that surfaces issues early and enables proactive support
• Automate routine diagnostics and operational tasks, improving MTTR and reducing the likelihood of human error
• Partner with front-office teams to improve user experience, gather feedback, and identify systemic improvements
• Collaborate with engineering to improve application reliability, supportability, and operational design—influence how systems are built, not just how they're supported

Your Profile

• 5+ years' hands-on application support in a trading environment with genuine front-office exposure and deep familiarity with trade lifecycles, products, and risk mechanics
• Expert-level troubleshooting across L2 and L3 support—you can diagnose complex issues in both application logic and systems infrastructure
• Strong SQL skills and the ability to read, understand, and suggest small changes to code—you can navigate a codebase and communicate with developers as a peer
• Proven track record establishing and maintaining SLAs, response time commitments, and escalation discipline—you understand what operational rigor looks like
• Hands-on experience with monitoring, alerting, and automation—you've built dashboards that matter and written playbooks that accelerate response
• Leadership mentality without ego; you can mentor a growing team, establish best practices, and build a function that outlasts you
• Credibility with traders and developers—you can hold your own in technical and business conversations, ask smart questions, and command respect
