Job summary

Smith is seeking a seasoned accounting leader based in Hong Kong to oversee regional APAC finance operations. The role requires hands-on SAP expertise, 15+ years of accounting experience, and at least 3 years of team leadership.

• Minimum 15 years of solid accounting experience, with at least 3 years of proven team leadership.
• Strong hands-on experience with SAP.
• Experience managing accounting functions for entities across APAC regions (China, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia).
• Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to work independently and with teams.

• Perform vendor statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Verify accuracy of supporting documents and prepare accounting vouchers.
• Process and review employee expense claims according to company policies.
• Conduct freight charge audits and ensure proper cost allocation.
• Manage vendor master data and maintain vendor codes.
• Prepare and execute online banking transactions in line with internal controls.
• Assist month-end closing activities and prepare financial reports.
• Support regional APAC accounting operations.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with policies and standards.
• Liaise with internal departments, vendors and stakeholders on accounting matters.

Requirements

• Minimum 15 years of solid accounting experience, with at least 3 years of proven team leadership experience of leading the team, preferably in a multinational or regional environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with SAP

Key Responsibilities

• Support regional accounting operations for APAC entities.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Liaise with internal departments, vendors, and external stakeholders on accounting-related matters.
• Perform general accounting duties and undertake ad hoc assignments as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting qualification is an advantage.
• Experience in a regional accounting role with exposure to APAC operations is highly preferred.
