The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is a statutory body established in 1966 to promote, assist and develop Hong Kong's trade. We are seeking a dynamic, high-calibre and experienced professional to join our team as Section Head, Finance and Professional Services.

The role leads promotional initiatives across regions, oversees projects, builds strategic alliances, and manages budgets, with a two-year contract and potential renewal. Strong leadership and language skills are essential.

Qualifications

• University degree and at least 8 years of managerial experience.
• Experience in public sector or large organisations preferred.
• Strong English and Chinese; Putonghua; third language a plus.
• Excellent sales, marketing, communications and external relations skills.
• Team leadership and project planning abilities.
• Able to work under time/resource pressure.

Responsibilities

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is a statutory body established in 1966 to promote, assist and develop Hong Kong's trade. With 51 offices globally, including 13 in the Chinese Mainland, the HKTDC promotes Hong Kong as a two-way global investment and business hub.

The HKTDC organises international exhibitions, conferences and business missions to create business opportunities for companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in the mainland and international markets. The HKTDC also provides up-to-date market insights and product information via research reports and digital news channels.

As we celebrate our 60th anniversary in 2026 and begin a new three-year business cycle, our mission remains as strong as ever to help Hong Kong thrive in trade and businesses succeed in the ever-changing landscape.

We are seeking a dynamic, high-calibre and experienced professional to join our team.

Responsibilities

• As the Section Head overseeing promotional initiatives related to the Belt and Road initiative;
• Lead and manage promotional projects across ASEAN markets to enhance business opportunities;
• Build closer rapport and strategic alliances with key players in the service industry and trade associations through proactive liaison work;
• Identify and leverage innovative marketing channels and manage online platforms to create new business opportunitiesfor Hong Kong service providers and cultivate prominent success stories;
• Spearhead the planning and execution of promotional programmes and events in Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland, and overseas, with full budget management responsibility;
• Lead, coach and develop a team to successfully implement the programmes and achieve organisational objectives.

Requirements

• University graduate with a minimum of 8 years’ solid managerial experience, preferably with sizable organisations in the public sector, in any of the following areas: sales and marketing; exhibition/event organisation or public/corporate relations etc.;
• Strong inclination and understanding of Hong Kong economy, trade and business arena covering various industries, and markets and business opportunities for Hong Kong;
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua; knowledge of a third language an advantage;
• Mature with superior skills in sales, marketing, communication and external relations;
• A strong team player with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills;
• Self-motivated and outgoing with good project planning ability;
• Innovative, flexible and be able to deliver under time and resource pressure.

Remuneration and Benefits

The successful candidate will be offered a two-year contract with prospects for renewal upon expiry. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus an appropriate contract-end gratuity. Medical benefits and annual leave will be offered.
