Job summary

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University invites applications for the position of Scientific Officer (Ref. 261030008-IE).

The appointee will operate, maintain and calibrate electrical engineering equipment and software, and assist users in using them. They will also manage teaching laboratories, support student projects and implement teaching tools, and undertake any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or delegates.

Qualifications

• Recognised degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Five or more years of relevant post-qualification experience.
• Good command of English and Chinese, written and spoken.

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

• (a) operate, maintain and calibrate electrical engineering equipment and software;
• (b) assist and train users on the use of such equipment and software;
• (c) manage teaching laboratories of the Unit;
• (d) support students' projects and implement teaching tools; and
• (e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

• (a) a recognised degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline or an equivalent qualification, with five or more years of relevant post-qualification experience;
• (b) experience preferably in running laboratories related to the following areas: (i) power engineering, (ii) electrical machines, (iii) power electronics; (iv) high voltage; or (v) electrical building services;
• (c) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
