Job summary

The Hospital Authority is seeking a Building Services Technician to support major capital works projects in Hong Kong. The successful candidate will assist senior teams, supervise building services on site, monitor progress, and ensure quality records and safety standards.

You will work in shifts, attend emergencies, and contribute to the smooth on-site operations, reporting to Senior Managers and Engineers with a focus on reliable, safe building services delivery.

Qualifications

• English and Chinese literacy equivalent to Form 3/Secondary 3 standard.
• Valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card).
• Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, AutoCAD and other MS Office apps.

Responsibilities

• Assist in project management of major capital works with technical advisory support.
• Supervise building services work on site and maintain site records.
• Monitor labour resources, progress, materials and equipment used on site.
• Check site measurements and payments claimed by contractors.
• Conduct site surveys and contribute proposals for alterations or repairs.
• Inspect testing and commissioning of building services installations.
• Review operation and maintenance manuals and as-built drawings.
• Work in shifts, respond to emergencies, and perform typhoon duties.

Job description

Pay: HK$34,705 to HK$40,220 [HGPS point 13 to 16] per month including Monthly Allowance

Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.

Key Responsibilities

The appointee will assist Senior Managers, Managers, Employer’s Representatives and the Consultant Team in the project management of major capital works projects with technical advisory support. Major duties are:

• Assist the Building Services Inspector on all aspects of supervision of building services work on site within the contracts and the maintenance of site records.
• Assist in the monitoring of labour resources, progress, materials and equipment used on site.
• Assist in the checking of site measurements of building services works and payments claimed by contractors.
• Assist in the site survey of existing building services installations during the construction stage, including submission of proposals for additional, alteration or repair works.
• Assist in the inspection of testing and commissioning of building services installations.
• Assist in the checking of building services operation and maintenance manuals and as-fitted drawings submitted by various contractors.
• Work according to duty roster, attend emergency call and perform typhoon duty.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Entry Requirements

• (a)A Certificate in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from Hong Kong Polytechnic / Hong Kong Polytechnic University / Hong Kong Technical College / Hong Kong Technical Institute / Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, or equivalent; or (b) 5 years of relevant working experience as skilled worker in the field of Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; or (c) Completed a recognized Technician Apprenticeship in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 3 years’ site supervisory experience subsequent to fulfilling (1) above.
• A knowledge of English and Chinese equivalent to Form 3 (before 2012) / Secondary 3 standard.
• Obtained valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card).
• Knowledge of other common office automation (e.g. e-mail, Internet / Intranet, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, AutoCAD and other MS Office applications, etc.).
• Excellent inter-personal communication and presentation skill.
• Responsible, self-motivated and able to work independently under minimum supervision.
• Outgoing and able to work under pressure and stressful situation, including crises.
• Formal training in occupational safety and health.
