Job summary

OKX is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join the Payments team in Hong Kong. You will design and operate high‑availability payment systems, integrating multiple channels across markets, and drive architectural decisions for a trusted platform.

Work with product, design, and partner teams to deliver scalable payment infrastructure, while mentoring engineers and maintaining high standards in a fast‑moving crypto fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend software development experience.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and design patterns.
• Ownership: take responsibility for outcomes.
• Ability to drive cross-team collaboration and manage complex dependencies.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication for engineers and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Genuine interest in crypto or fintech and building money movement systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build high‑scale, 24/7 APIs and distributed payment services across cloud providers using Java/Spring Boot.
• Expand global reach by integrating and scaling new payment channels across markets.
• Ensure correctness, reconciliation, and reliable failure recovery of payment systems.
• Set and elevate engineering standards through design reviews and thoughtful feedback.
• Tackle complex distributed‑systems challenges and drive them to resolution.
• Collaborate with product, design, and partner teams across regions to turn requirements into shipped systems.
• Mentor engineers and grow team capability; leverage is measured, not just output.
