Job summary

OKX in Hong Kong is seeking a Staff / Senior Staff Software Engineer, Mobile to own the mobile engineering for our P2P trading and fiat payment experiences across markets.

You will collaborate with compliance, legal, product, and regional teams to build localised, regulation-aware mobile flows; mentor engineers; and drive AI-assisted development workflows to raise quality and velocity.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with mobile apps.
• Proficiency in iOS (Swift/Obj-C) or Android (Kotlin/Java).
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, API design, testing, debugging.
• Experience delivering reliable mobile features at scale.
• Ability to own projects and collaborate across teams.

About The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Staff Mobile Engineer to join our P2P & Fiat team, where you will own the mobile engineering for OKX’s peer-to-peer trading and fiat payment experiences across multiple markets. This is a high-ownership role sitting at the intersection of mobile engineering and cross-border payments—you will work closely with compliance, legal, and regional business teams to build localised, regulation‑aware payment flows for users across Southeast Asia, LATAM, MENA, and beyond.

You bring deep familiarity with P2P trading mechanics, cross-regional fiat payment integrations, and the compliance considerations that govern them. You are also fluent in AI-assisted development and bring the discipline to build, maintain, and continuously improve your own AI engineering workflows.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Own the mobile engineering for P2P trading flows, including trading channel mechanics, payment methods, and end-to-end buy and sell transaction journeys.

Build and maintain cross-regional fiat payment integrations, including local bank transfers, e-wallets, and third‑party PSP integrations across markets such as Southeast Asia, LATAM, and MENA.

Ensure mobile payment flows and user data handling comply with local and international regulatory requirements, including KYC tiers, transaction limits, and regional compliance constraints.

Collaborate closely with compliance, legal, product, and regional market teams to translate local regulatory requirements into reliable, user‑friendly mobile experiences.

Drive technical decision‑making on payment architecture, clearly articulating trade‑offs across delivery speed, maintainability, and compliance.

Apply AI coding tools actively in your workflow—not only for code generation, but also to build and maintain repeatable personal AI development workflows.

Mentor engineers on the team and contribute to a culture of ownership, technical rigour, and high engineering standards.

What We Look For In You

5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including hands‑on experience building and maintaining production mobile applications. Level will be calibrated based on technical depth, scope, and demonstrated impact.

Proficiency in either iOS development using Swift or Objective‑C, or Android development using Kotlin or Java.

Solid software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, API design, testing, debugging, and system design.

Experience delivering reliable mobile features and addressing practical challenges in areas such as performance, stability, architecture, or user experience.

Ability to take ownership of engineering work, collaborate effectively with others, and drive solutions from design through production.

Good judgment when balancing delivery speed, product requirements, technical quality, and maintainability.

Nice‑To‑Haves

Experience in crypto, fintech, digital payments, or another regulated product environment.

Experience building large‑scale or multi‑market consumer mobile applications.

Experience in one or more areas such as mobile architecture, infrastructure, performance, security, or cross‑platform development.

Practical experience using AI‑assisted development tools and validating AI‑generated output.
