Job summary

JEP Precision Engineering Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced Production Planner/Buyer to plan and schedule manufacturing activities in Hong Kong. You will coordinate closely with Production, Sales and Quality teams to ensure on-time delivery, monitor progress, and manage material requirements and supplier relationships.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, strong Excel and ERP/MRP skills, and a meticulous, organised and independent work approach in a fast-paced manufacturing

Qualifications

• Minimum GCE O-Level, Higher Nitec or Diploma in Mechanical/Precision Engineering.
• Experience in production planning, purchasing, or manufacturing.
• Experience in precision engineering, machining or manufacturing environment advantageous.
• Able to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems advantageous.
• Good communication, coordination and follow-up skills.
• Meticulous, organised and able to work independently.
• Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule production based on customer orders, delivery requirements and available machine capacity.
• Coordinate with Production, Sales and Quality teams to ensure schedules are achievable and delivery commitments met.
• Monitor production progress and follow up on delays, material shortages and other issues affecting delivery.
• Prepare and maintain production schedules, work orders and related planning records.
• Review material requirements and raise purchase orders for raw materials, tooling, consumables and other production items.
• Source and liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, negotiate prices and follow up on delivery schedules.
• Monitor material availability and ensure materials are purchased in time to support production requirements.
• Follow up with suppliers on outstanding orders and expedite urgent materials when required.
• Maintain purchasing and inventory records, including purchase orders, delivery dates and outstanding items.
• Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock.
• Coordinate with store and production teams on material receiving and availability.
• Perform other production planning and purchasing duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Preferably with a few years of relevant experience in production planning, purchasing, or manufacturing.

• Experience in a precision engineering, machining or manufacturing environment will be an advantage.

• Basic understanding of machining processes, materials, and production requirements.

• Able to read and understand engineering drawings.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

• Experience with ERP/MRP systems will be an advantage.

• Good communication, coordination and follow-up skills.
