Job summary

Centre for Translational Stem Cell Biology (CTSCB) at The University of Hong Kong invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to commence as soon as possible for one year, with possible renewal subject to performance. The role covers translational immunology projects and collaboration with HKU and Cambridge teams.

Requirements include a PhD in Biomedical/Biological Sciences, strong immunology and stem cell biology experience, and a track record of publications.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Research experience in basic immunology is required, preferably in primary immunodeficiencies or related diseases.
• Experience with stem cell biology and drug screening is highly desirable.
• A strong publication or patent record would be a bonus.
• Good laboratory practices and teamwork skills are expected.
• Excellent written and spoken English with strong communication abilities.

Job description

Applications are invited for appointment as Postdoctoral Researcher in Centre for Translational Stem Cell Biology (Ref.: CTSCB-260817), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. The selected candidates will work in a company incorporated by the University of Hong Kong established to administer and support the University's innovation endeavours. CTSCB projects are initiated and supervised by scientists and clinicians from The University of Hong Kong and University of Cambridge. Shortlisted candidates will be assigned to one or two projects in the Centre according to their expertise and experience. Centre is aiming to translate discoveries in regenerative medicine and genomic medicine into daily application and thus, those candidates will work on the R&D and business development of the project, which may involve pitching sessions and meetings with potential investors. Project scopes can be found in the paragraphs below.

• Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher.
• Research experience in basic immunology is required, preferably in the field of primary immunodeficiencies or related diseases.
• Experience working with stem cell biology and drug screening would be highly desirable.
• A strong publication/patent record would be a bonus.
• Applicants should possess good laboratory practices and teamwork skills.
• They should have a good command of written and spoken English, strong communication skills, and a demonstrated track record of wet laboratory experience.
• Applicants should also be self-motivated, innovative, and able to work well in an interdisciplinary team.

Projects involve translational works in immunology. Appointees are expected to conduct research projects with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and scientists. Working off-campus may be required.
