Advanced Biomedical Instrumentation Centre in Hong Kong seeks a Part-time Scientific Officer to lead four-generation digital PCR projects and guide commercialization strategies for the centre’s technologies.

Applications are invited for appointment as Part-time Scientific Officer (Ref.: H01/2026/102) for innovative research projects in the themes of Screening Tests / Personalized Companion Diagnostics / Strategic Therapeutics Approaches / Advanced Medical Device Components based at the Hong Kong Science Park.

Job Description

• Lead and oversee project teams on dealing with four generation digital polymerase chain reaction
• Provide entrepreneurial guidance and strategic advice on the commercialization of the Centre’s technologies, with particular focus on projects RP1-8 and RP2-2
• Support the development and application of fourth-generation PCR technology and related innovations
• Identify potential industry partners, funding opportunities, and pathways for technology transfer and startup formation
• Contribute to business planning, market assessment, and the overall commercialization strategy of the Centre’s research outputs
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor(s)

Skills And Requirements

• PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Engineering or other related subjects
• Strong technical expertise in fourth-generation PCR technology and related molecular diagnostic methods
• Proven ability to translate research findings into practical applications and support technology commercialization
• Experience in assay development, optimization, and validation of advanced PCR platforms
• 5+ years of entrepreneurial experience in identifying industry partnerships, funding opportunities, and pathways for technology transfer
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to collaborate effectively with research and industry stakeholders
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese
• Good time management with a strong sense of responsibility and research ethics
• Highly proficient and fluent in English in both writing and verbal communications
• Mature, self-motivated, confident and able to work under pressure
