Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking Settlement professionals to join its Back Office team. The role is responsible for supporting and managing post-trade operations across multiple asset classes and markets, ensuring efficient transaction processing, robust operational controls, and high-quality service delivery.
Depending on experience and seniority, the successful candidate will be involved in day-to-day operational processing, oversight of critical controls, stakeholder management, process improvement initiatives, and team leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Post-Trade Operations
- Support the execution and oversight of post-trade operations across securities and cash settlement, clearing, payment controls, reconciliations, static data maintenance, tax reporting, regulatory reporting, and primary market support activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions across multiple markets and infrastructures.
- Monitor settlement activities and work closely with brokers, custodians, clearing houses, exchanges, and counterparties to resolve trade exceptions and settlement issues.
Product & Business Support
- Provide operational support across a broad range of financial products, including:
- Equities
- Fixed Income
- OTC Derivatives
- Listed Derivatives
- Structured Products
- Primary Market Transactions
- Virtual Assets (where applicable)
- Support institutional, private wealth, and retail business activities.
Risk & Controls
- Execute and maintain operational controls across core back-office processes.
- Investigate and resolve trade breaks, reconciliation discrepancies, operational incidents, and client-impacting issues.
- Escalate issues appropriately and contribute to root cause analysis and remediation efforts.
- Monitor operational metrics, including settlement efficiency, reconciliation exceptions, aged breaks, and key risk indicators.
Regulatory & Tax Reporting
- Support the preparation and completion of FATCA, CRS, and other regulatory and tax reporting requirements.
- Ensure operational records, data quality, and supporting documentation are maintained in accordance with internal policies and regulatory standards.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with Front Office, Finance, Risk, Compliance, Technology teams, and external counterparties to resolve operational issues and support business initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness.
Change & Transformation
- Participate in new business initiatives, product launches, system implementations, market-driven regulatory changes, and operational enhancement projects.
- Support process reviews, automation initiatives, workflow improvements, and operating model optimization.
- Contribute to user acceptance testing (UAT), procedure updates, and operational readiness activities.
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members where appropriate.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, training, and team development initiatives.
- For more senior hires (AVP/VP level), supervise team activities, manage escalations, and support departmental leadership responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in securities operations, post-trade processing, settlements, clearing, reconciliations, or back-office operations within banking, brokerage, wealth management, or capital markets environments.
- Associate: 3-5 years
- AVP: 5-8 years
- VP: 8+ years
- Sound understanding of securities and cash settlement processes across multiple markets.
- Product knowledge covering one or more of the following asset classes:
- Equities
- Fixed Income
- OTC Derivatives
- Listed Derivatives
- Structured Products
- Virtual Assets
- Familiarity with operational risk and control frameworks, incident management, and issue escalation processes.
- Knowledge of FATCA, CRS, and regulatory reporting requirements would be advantageous.
- Experience in system implementations, process improvement, automation initiatives, or operational transformation projects is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin; proficiency in written Chinese is an advantage.
