GPTX Investment Management Limited is a licensed corporation providing investment solutions and client service. We are a small, hands-on team, which means the person in this role sees how the whole operation fits together rather than one narrow slice of it.
The Role
This is a junior position on our operations team. You will support the daily running of the firm: fund valuations, trade processing and reconciliations, reporting, and the record-keeping that keeps a licensed asset manager in good standing. You will work with the rest of the operations team and with portfolio managers, compliance, auditors and our outsourced middle- and back-office provider, so a large part of the job is staying on top of what is happening and making sure the right people hear about it in time.
We can teach the products, the systems and the fund mechanics. Attitude is the part we cannot teach, so it is the part we hire for.
We will say this plainly: a candidate with the right attitude and less experience is more interesting to us than one with a longer CV and a passive approach to work. In practice that means:
- Ownership. When something is yours, it gets finished. If a number does not tie out at six in the evening, you keep at it, and you tell someone early rather than hoping it resolves itself overnight.
- Care. The work is detailed and small errors travel. You check your own figures before somebody else has to.
- Curiosity. You ask why a balance moved. Nobody expects you to know fund accounting in year one; we do expect you to want to.
- Composure. Valuation days and month-end are busy. You keep your list in order, keep your head, and keep people updated.
- Reliability. You do what you said you would, when you said you would, and you say something in advance when that changes.
Working With People
Operations sits in the middle of the firm, and very little of this job is done alone.
- You will deal daily with colleagues in operations, and regularly with portfolio managers, compliance, finance, auditors, brokers and fund administrators.
- Much of the day is follow-up: chasing a confirmation, confirming a break, passing an answer on to the person who needs it. Clear written English and a phone manner that gets replies matter here.
- You will write things down, so the next person does not have to ask you twice.
- You will give and take feedback directly, and ask for help before a problem grows.
- English is our working language. Cantonese and Mandarin help with local and regional counterparties.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the daily fund valuation process: check the inputs, review the administrator’s output, and follow up on breaks and queries.
- Assist with trade processing, cash and position reconciliations, income and corporate action events across portfolios.
- Prepare and check periodic reports for management, investors and regulators.
- Keep operational records and files accurate, current and easy to retrieve.
- Liaise with brokers, counterparties, auditors, fund administrators and other service providers on routine matters.
- Support client onboarding and the launch of new funds and accounts.
- Provide information for compliance, regulatory filings, audits and due diligence requests.
- Help with investor relations and fund marketing material, including due diligence questionnaires.
- Take on ad hoc projects and tasks as the team needs them.
What You’ll Bring
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related discipline.
- Up to three years of experience in fund operations, fund administration or a related area. Recent graduates with relevant internships are welcome to apply.
- Comfort with numbers and spreadsheets. You do not need to build models; you need to be accurate and organised.
- Strong written and verbal English.
- The right to work in Hong Kong.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to Enfusion (CWAN) or another order management or fund accounting system.
- Familiarity with financial products such as equities, bonds, funds and derivatives.
- Experience in an asset manager, a fund administrator, or an audit or accounting firm.
- Excel skills beyond the basics.
What We Offer
- A junior role with real scope: you will see the whole operation, not a fragment of it.
- A small team where your work is visible and senior colleagues are within reach.
- A competitive salary and benefits package.
- Professional development and a realistic path to grow with the team.
