Job summary

Hong Kong Christian Service invites applications for Multicultural Service Assistant (C-for-Chinese-JC). You will support social workers and teachers, assist in group work and mass programs, and help run activities for clients and families in a diverse community.

The role requires completed secondary education in HK, familiarity with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint, and fluent English plus one of Bahasa Indonesia, Tagalog, Thai, Hindi, Nepali, Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali or Vietnamese.

Qualifications

• Completed secondary education in Hong Kong, HKDSE or equivalent.
• Relevant experience in social services is preferred.
• Fluent in English.
• Fluent in at least one of Bahasa Indonesia, Tagalog, Thai, Hindi, Nepali, Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali or Vietnamese.
• Computer literate with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Employee should not have been convicted of sexual offences as per scheme.

Responsibilities

• To answer telephone calls, take messages or following‑up if necessary.
• To station at another agency, school or service unit from time to time as and when required.
• To assist social worker and kindergarten teacher to carry out direct service including group work service, mass programs and out-door activities.
• To assist in preparation and implementation of group work service, programs and activities.
• To assist in communication and engagement work with clients and families.

Requirements

• Completed secondary education in Hong Kong, or attended HKDSE; or completed secondary education in an overseas or equivalent.
• Relevant experience in social service is preferred.
• Fluent in English.
• Fluent in speaking and listening at least one of the following languages: Bahasa Indonesia, Tagalog, Thai, Hindi, Nepali, Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali or Vietnamese.
• Computer literate with knowledge in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Employee should have not been convicted of any sexual offences, in Hong Kong or elsewhere, as specified in the Sexual Conviction Record Check Scheme.
