Manager – Operations, Insurance Transformation

Service Line Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Insurance Transformation Manager (Operations focus) to join our team in Hong Kong. Our Transformation practice in Hong Kong is one of the fastest growing divisions within KPMG China, representing a young and enthusiastic team that drives itself towards continued success.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage delivery of large‑scale operational excellence transformation programmes on a day‑to‑day basis, working with a Client’s COO/Head of Operations (new business/ underwriting, policy servicing, claims) to develop and execute their operational excellence strategy.
- Lead consulting teams to assist clients in the analysis and assessment of insurance core Life, Health or Property & Casualty operations (incl. New Business, Underwriting, Policy Servicing and Claims) to identify end‑to‑end process optimisation opportunities driving effectiveness and efficiency continuous improvements towards new target operating models.
- Define how operational productivity impacts overall profitability; and how to best monitor and track productivity performance, including KPI metrics definition (without compromising quality).
- Participate and manage operational excellence technology/digital/data analytics/AI projects that are aimed at transforming operations, ensuring a unified programme for delivery and execution to drive effective and efficient business performance with the Client’s management.
- Facilitate steering committee meetings and align/manage Client stakeholder expectations to ensure delivery of business plans and resolve critical issues, ensuring effective decision‑making, escalation, and governance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and high quality through motivating consulting team members to excel in their roles and contribute to both a Client’s and KPMG’s success. Train, mentor, and evaluate team.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all Insurance Operational Excellence‑related inquiries and be the advocate for KPMG, including with Learning and Development activities.
Experience & Background
- University degree with a relevant university and/or professional qualification in Business, Finance or Informatics.
- Minimum of 7+ years relevant experiences and capabilities in Insurance operations (NB/UW, PS, Claims) with relevant project/delivery management. Candidates with less experience may be considered for Consultant roles.
- Strong leadership and team management skills. Proactive self‑starter with vision and passion to drive operational excellence with confidence and pragmatism. People management skills with ability to build trust and influence senior stakeholder groups to achieve desired operational change outcomes.
- Excellent strategic, operations and analytical problem‑solving mindset to capture opportunities and navigate complexities in a competitive insurance industry (with intellectual curiosity, structured thinking and creativity).
- Proven track record of process improvement and operational efficiency with operations quality‑control methodology proficiency – end‑to‑end process mapping, lean six‑sigma, or relevant certification is an advantage.
- Proficient in insurance software and technology with in‑depth knowledge of insurance products, policies, and regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin would be an advantage.
