Job summary

Lingnan University in Hong Kong invites applications for the post of Assistant Library Officer (Learning Support) to provide reference and instruction services both online and in person.

The role involves supporting information literacy programs, coordinating Course Readings @ Library, and promoting library services with occasional evening/weekend shifts. A good honours bachelor degree and 1–2 years in academic libraries are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or above; good honours preferred.
• 1–2 years of working experience in academic libraries with customer service mindset.
• Proficiency in English and Chinese (Cantonese/Putonghua).
• Ability to work in teams and independently; strong PC skills.
• Graphic design software knowledge and website authoring experience preferred.
• Knowledge of 3D modelling, 3D printing, 3D scanning, laser cutting and engraving is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical and logistical support for information literacy programs (orientations, workshops, reference and instruction).
• Assist in library tours, counter inquiries, and public services.
• Coordinate Course Readings @ Library service operations.
• Keep library website and digital learning objects up-to-date.
• Prepare promotional materials for workshops and events; assist publicity activities.
• Gather statistics and compile surveys, usage reports for department.
• Supervise part-time and student helpers.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and University Librarian.
• Shift duties on evenings, weekends and public holidays.
