Job summary

CLSA in Hong Kong seeks a Linux Administrator with DevOps expertise to own and support container/Kubernetes platforms running on VMware Tanzu. The role covers both project work and BAU operations, requiring a proactive, self-motivated approach and strong technical skills.

You will maintain Linux infrastructure, automate with Ansible, manage OpenShift/Kubernetes, and collaborate with teams on automation, DR/BCP drills, and capacity planning. English and Chinese communication is essential.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years experience as a Linux Administrator and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure etc.)
• In-depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat physical and virtual environments
• OpenShift/Kubernetes deployed in internal infra
• Hands-on automation using Shell, Perl and/or Python scripting
• Strong communication skills in English and Chinese

Responsibilities

• Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure to support 24x7 service
• Maintain best practices across environments for systems and services
• Provide L1-L3 server support similar to current team
• Manage software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes on servers
• Create/modify scripts or apps to automate tasks
• Improve stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
• Collaborate with teams to develop automation strategies and deployment processes
• Provide on-call support during off hours when needed
• Participate in Disaster Recovery and BCP drills
• Manage physical server infrastructure via remote access
• Manage/maintain VMs in ESX farm and AWS
• Build new physical and virtual servers per standards
• Troubleshoot and log performance exceptions
• Monitor system performance and plan capacity
• Knowledge of clusters and databases on servers

Job description

Linux Administrator with DevOps expertise who will be responsible and accountable for both Projects and day to day BAU Operations, owning and supporting Container/Kubernetes platform running on VMware Tanzu. It is must for candidate to be technically strong, detail oriented and Self-motivated to learn cross skilled technologies.

Key Area of Responsibilities

• Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7 service
• Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments
• Provide L1,L2,L3 level server support similar to current team
• Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers
• Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks
• Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
• Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes
• Provide on-call support during off hours if needed
• Participate in Disaster Recovery and BCP drills
• Manage Physical server infrastructure using remote access
• Manage and maintain virtual machines in internal ESX farm as well as in AWS
• Build new physical and virtual servers as per standards
• Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions
• Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning
• Knowledge on servers installed with cluster software and databases.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree or higher in IT/Computer or other related studies
• 8-10 years experience as a Linux Administrator and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure etc.)
• IN depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat both physical and virtual environment
• Previous working experience with OpenShift/Kubernetes etc. deployed in internal infra.
• Hands on experience with physical/VM server deployments and commissioning
• Experience / knowledge on various HPE or other server hardware and architecture
• Expert in automation using Ansible or any other tools
• Capable of Automation using scripting language such as Shell, Perl and/or Python scripting
• Strong problem solving and communication skills in English and Chinese

Additional Requirements

• Additional Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE) will be considered an advantage
• MS Windows OS knowledge will be added advantage
• Good to have knowledge on Veritas cluster and Veritas Storage Foundation
• Good to have worked on / knowledge of tools such as BigFix, OneView, ITRS, Service Now, SCOM, CyberArk
• Knowledge on Containers/Dockers
• Familiarity with VMWare and SAN management and concepts
