Job summary

ED Design Limited is a leading interior design practice in Wan Chai, specializing in high-end residential spaces. We seek an experienced Interior Designer (Residential – Design & Build) to translate client aspirations into exceptional interiors, collaborating with clients and contractors across the project lifecycle.

The role requires creative vision and practical delivery, with a focus on concept to completion on diverse residential projects in a collaborative studio setting.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architecture or a related design discipline
• 5+ years of professional experience in residential interior design, with design-and-build exposure
• Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and 3D visualization tools
• Strong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations and HK construction practices
• Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to design quality and detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to present ideas to clients and collaborate with teams

Responsibilities

• Develop interior design concepts for residential projects from concept to completion
• Produce design documentation: floor plans, elevations, 3D visuals, materials boards, construction drawings
• Lead client presentations and design consultations, securing approvals throughout the project
• Manage design development from schematic to detailed design and construction admin
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors and suppliers for seamless delivery
• Specify finishes, materials, lighting and furniture aligned with design intent and budget
• Conduct on-site visits to monitor progress and resolve design issues
• Prepare project timelines, budgets and resource requirements
• Contribute to maintaining studio design standards and resource libraries

About the role

We are seeking a talented Interior Designer (Residential – Design & Build) to join our dynamic team at ED Design Limited. Based in Wan Chai District, this is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of residential projects from concept through to completion. You will play a key role in translating client aspirations into exceptional interior environments, working closely with our design team, clients, and contractors to deliver outstanding results. This position is integral to our design and build offering, requiring both creative vision and practical project delivery expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Develop creative and innovative interior design concepts for residential projects, incorporating client briefs, lifestyle requirements and spatial constraints
• Produce comprehensive design documentation including floor plans, elevations, 3D visualisations, material boards and construction drawings
• Lead client presentations and design consultations, articulating design concepts and obtaining approvals throughout the project lifecycle
• Manage the design development process from schematic design through to detailed design and construction administration
• Coordinate closely with architects, engineers, contractors and suppliers to ensure seamless project delivery and quality execution
• Specify materials, finishes, furniture and lighting solutions that align with design intent and project budgets
• Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and resolve design-related issues on-site
• Prepare project timelines, budgets and resource requirements to support effective project planning and delivery
• Contribute to maintaining and developing the studio's design standards, library of resources and best practice methodologies

What we're looking for

• Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architecture or a related design discipline from an accredited institution
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in residential interior design, with demonstrated experience in design and build projects
• Strong proficiency in industry-standard design software including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and 3D visualisation tools
• Excellent understanding of building codes, safety regulations and construction methodologies relevant to residential interiors in Hong Kong
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst maintaining high standards of design quality and attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present ideas effectively to clients and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Knowledge of spatial planning, colour theory, materials science and contemporary interior design trends
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative design team in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with BIM (Building Information Modelling) or project management software is advantageous
• A strong portfolio demonstrating residential design projects from concept to completion is essential
