Job summary

Hotel and Tourism Institute / Chinese Culinary Institute / International Culinary Institute, under the Vocational Training Council (VTC), seeks experienced instructors to conduct classes and supervise student projects across hotel and culinary disciplines.

The role involves updating training materials, delivering real-world catering services, maintaining records, and supporting training programmes and events.

Qualifications

• Recognised higher diploma in Hotel and/or Catering Management or Western Cooking related discipline.
• At least 3 years’ relevant work or teaching experience in hotel/catering industry.
• Good communication and presentation skills in English and Chinese.

Responsibilities

• Conduct classes and practical training including supervision of projects and Integrated Learning Experience / WIL.
• Prepare and update training materials and assist in curriculum development.
• Deliver catering and culinary services to hotel guests and the public.
• Maintain training-related records and store inventory.
• Assist with routine maintenance of equipment/facilities.

Job description

Hotel and Tourism Institute / Chinese Culinary Institute / International Culinary Institute

Major Duties :

(a) To conduct classes and practical training including supervision of students’ projects and Integrated Learning Experience / Work-Integrated Learning;

(b) To prepare and update training materials and assist in curriculum development;

(c) To deliver catering and culinary services to hotel guests and members of the general public;

(d) To maintain training-related records and store inventory;

(e) To assist with the routine maintenance of equipment / facilities;

(f) To assist with the recruitment and placement of students; and

(g) To assist in the effective running of training programmes, training kitchens, special training events / functions and culinary competitions.

Requirements :

(a) A recognised higher diploma in Hotel and / or Catering Management, Western Cooking related discipline, or equivalent; preferably with a Hygiene Manager Certificate;

(b) At least 3 years’ relevant work or teaching experience in hotel / catering industry;

(c) Good communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese;

(d) Good knowledge of basic computer applications; and

(e) Ability to pass a trade test.

Notes :

(1) Candidates without the required academic qualifications stated in (a) above but possessing 8 years’ relevant experience may also apply. Where applicable, these candidates may be required to have a Qualifications Framework (QF) Level 3 qualification.

(2) Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.

(3) The appointee may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours, work on shift over a full e-day period and in designated places as assigned.

(4) In support of the Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) Scheme launched by the Hong Kong Police Force, all prospective appointees will be requested to undergo the SCRC at the advanced stage of the employment process.
