Job summary

Pro-Act Training and Development Centre (Fashion Textiles) invites applications for a part-time role to teach design modules and supervise student projects. The appointee will contribute to curriculum development and student administration, while actively engaging with industry partners.

The position emphasizes collaboration on projects, events and exhibitions, with emphasis on industry linkages and innovative teaching practices.

Qualifications

• Higher diploma in Fashion Design or equivalent.
• At least 3 years work or teaching experience in fashion industry/education.
• Good presentation, teaching, administrative and teamwork skills.
• High proficiency in English and Chinese (Putonghua preferred).
• Motivation for programme development and industry collaboration.
• Record of industry linkage and participation in competitions is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Teach Fashion Design modules at sub-diploma level and supervise student projects.

Major Duties:

• (a) To perform teaching duties including supervision of students projects and fieldwork placement, teaching relevant Fashion Design modules at sub-diploma level
• (b) To carry out duties in relation to student and academic administration
• (c) To develop programme curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment materials including feasibility study and syllabus writing and
• (d) To participate in networking with industry / industrial attachments, campus / departmental project, events, competitions and functions, including but not limited to consultancy services, Open Days, admission exercises, research studies, taster programmes, seminars and exhibitions.

Requirements:

• (a) A recognised higher diploma in Fashion Design, or equivalent
• (b) At least 3 years work or teaching experience in the relevant industry
• (c) Good presentation, teaching, administrative, interpersonal and team building skills
• (d) A high level of proficiency in both English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua
• (e) High motivation for programme and new project development
• (f) Good records of linkage with industry / professional
• (g) Experience leading students to participate in local, international or mainland fashion design competitions with commendable results and
• (h) Prior participation in local, international, or mainland fashion competitions with demonstrable success or notable achievements is an added advantage.

Notes:

• (1) Candidates without the required academic qualification stated in the Requirement (a) but possessing 8 years work or teaching experience in the relevant industry may also apply. Where applicable, these candidates may be required to have a Qualifications Framework (QF) Level 3 qualification.
• (2) Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.
• (3) Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a trade test.
• (4) The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours and / or outside campus.
• (5) In support of the Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) Scheme launched by the Hong Kong Police Force, all prospective appointees will be requested to undergo the SCRC at the advanced stage of the employment process.
