Job summary

OCBC seeks a Vice President, Data Engineering to lead the design and evolution of enterprise-scale data platforms. You will enable advanced analytics, AI, regulatory reporting, and digital transformation initiatives across the bank.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, architects, data scientists, and technology teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure data solutions that support strategic objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering/Big Data with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale data platforms.
• Hands-on Hadoop ecosystem expertise (HDFS, YARN, Hive, HBase, Sqoop).
• Advanced knowledge of Apache Spark and distributed computing.
• Proficiency in Python, Scala, Java, and SQL.
• Experience with Data Lakes/Lakehouse and cloud-native services.
• DevOps/DataOps with CI/CD, IaC, automation.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Proven track record leading complex data transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the strategic roadmap for the enterprise data platform.
• Design, develop, and maintain large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines.
• Lead architecture and optimization of distributed data platforms (Hadoop, Spark, Data Lake).
• Establish data engineering standards: data quality, metadata, lineage, observability.
• Partner with business and analytics teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Drive DataOps and platform automation (CI/CD, IaC, testing, releases).
• Optimize performance, cluster utilization, and storage efficiency.
• Ensure security, governance, and regulatory compliance across data environments.
• Mentor and grow a high-performing data engineering team.
• Evaluate new technologies to strengthen data capabilities.
