Job summary

OnTheList is seeking a Senior Full-stack Software Engineer to own and evolve our core applications for the Asia Pacific & Middle East region. You will design, implement, test, and maintain full-stack solutions across frontend, backend, APIs, databases, and integrations, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.

You will provide L2 support, translate business needs into technical implementations, and drive best practices in CI/CD, security, and observability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-stack software development experience in production environments.
• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web tech (React, Next.js, Node.js, NestJS).
• Solid API experience with RESTful and GraphQL services.
• Relational databases design, SQL queries, and data integrity.
• Experience with AWS and cloud deployments.
• Familiarity with Shopify ecosystem and app development is a plus.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Cantonese.

Full-stack Software Engineer, Asia Pacific & Middle East Full time, HK Based

OnTheList works to minimize the problem of excess stock by turning past-season inventory into sustainable opportunities. OnTheList works directly with retail brands and official distributors, turning old inventory into opportunity by providing a sustainable way for brands to sell past-season items that would have otherwise ended up in landfills, while providing the best deals and steep discounts to our OnTheList members. Since launching in Hong Kong in 2016, OnTheList has hosted over 5,200 flash sales and has built a community of over 1.3 million members across all regions. WHAT WE WILL TRUST YOU WITH...

• Take end-to-end ownership of assigned applications and supporting systems, including development, enhancement, deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack solutions, including frontend applications, backend services, APIs, databases, system integrations, internal tools, and automations.
• Provide L2 application support by investigating and resolving incidents escalated by the Regional IT Operations (L1) team, conducting root cause analysis and implementing sustainable technical solutions.
• Act as a technical point of contact for APAC market users, working directly with business teams to understand application issues, user requests, and operational requirements, and translate business needs into appropriate technical solutions.
• Collaborate with the core engineering team and cross-functional teams to implement system enhancements, resolve product defects, and support application deployments and new feature releases.
• Work with external vendors on application configuration, technical integration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and deployment activities.
• Monitor application performance and system health, proactively improving stability, reliability, security, performance, and operational efficiency.
• Follow software engineering best practices, including coding standards, source control, code review, testing, CI/CD, and release management to ensure high-quality and maintainable applications.
• Maintain technical documentation, knowledge bases, and troubleshooting procedures, while providing technical guidance and knowledge sharing to the Regional IT Operations team.

WHAT IT TAKES…

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in full-stack software development, application engineering, or supporting business-critical applications and SaaS platforms in a production environment.
• Strong hands-on development experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web technologies, preferably including React, Next.js, Node.js, and NestJS. Experience with React Native and PHP is an advantage.
• Solid experience in designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs and GraphQL services.
• Strong experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including database design, SQL queries, performance troubleshooting, and data integrity.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services and deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting production applications in cloud environments.
• Good understanding of modern software engineering practices, including Git/version control, code review, automated testing, CI/CD, release management, and application security.
• Experience with application monitoring, logging, and observability tools, with the ability to proactively identify and troubleshoot application performance and reliability issues.
• Experience in e-commerce with a strong understanding of the Shopify ecosystem, including hands-on experience in Shopify app development, APIs, webhooks, and system integrations.
• Experience supporting retail and e-commerce systems such as POS, payment terminals, payment gateways, CRM, WMS, ERP, and third-party integrations is an advantage.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Cantonese.
