Job summary

Zurich in Hong Kong seeks a Head of Financial Lines (Commercial Insurance Hong Kong) to lead the underwriting leadership and drive profitable growth by formulating and executing underwriting and portfolio strategies. You will manage the HK Financial Lines Underwriting team and set direction for customer engagement and Go-To-Market strategies with the HK line of business.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years underwriting experience in Financial Lines with leadership of underwriting teams.
• Specialized knowledge in products and industry.
• Proven track record of driving results in Financial Lines.
• Strong underwriting proficiency, technical knowledge in D&O, PI & FI.
• Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans and company initiatives.
• Experience handling multinational programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership as part of Commercial Leadership; monitor succession and development of employees.
• Manage the team of Underwriters & Senior Underwriters, with performance metrics and support as needed.
• Manage selection/denial of new and/or renewal business for a line of business within Country.
• Underwrite and analyze new and renewal business within delegated authority levels.
• Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents and brokers) to support retention and acquisition; work with customers and distributors to determine needs and provide solutions.
• Develop, promote and maintain Financial Lines leadership in the external insurance market to sustain the organisation’s position.
• Responsible for Pipeline Management; participate in Zurich network leveraging global capabilities.
• Establish and agree key performance targets and financial budgets for underwriting unit to optimize performance.
• Review complex analyses to make professional recommendations on underwriting approaches to improve medium/long-term results.
• Develop policies and processes to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
• Manage relationships with internal stakeholders to identify service-improvement opportunities.
• Participate in leadership team meetings to implement policy, projects and change initiatives.
• Contribute to business strategy to align underwriting with broader goals in the market.
• Participate in global/regional practitioner communities to share best practices.
• Oversee development plans for underwriters to ensure capability to drive results.
• Review portfolio performances to ensure financial metrics are met.
• Assure development and implementation of policy, procedures and standards to produce profitable results.
• Accountable for facultative reinsurance purchases & strategy.
