Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, medicine, or related field.
• Underwriting qualification preferred (e.g., FLMI, ALU, DipCII).
• 10–15 years of underwriting experience in life insurance.
• 3–5 years in a team leadership or senior managerial underwriting role.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting principles and practices.
• Experience with reinsurance arrangements and treaty management is advantageous.
• Involvement in product development, pricing, or portfolio strategy is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop the underwriting team to achieve goals.
• Oversee underwriting of complex, large-sum life insurance applications.
• Develop, implement, and review underwriting policies and guidelines.
• Monitor portfolio performance and manage risk exposure.
• Review and approve underwriting decisions above delegated thresholds.
• Collaborate with Actuarial, Product Development, Sales, Claims, and Compliance.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and governance standards.
• Drive adoption of new underwriting tools, technologies, and data analytics.
• Prepare management reports and portfolio insights for senior leadership.
• Manage relationships with reinsurers, brokers, and distribution partners.
• Contribute to product development initiatives and feasibility assessments.
• Handle escalated queries and complex risk assessments.
